December 13, 2013 : Veligandu

On the ferry
Getting ready to take off!
Luckily, we woke up before the alarm and Trey went downstairs to check on our seaplane flight to Veligandu. Our flight was at 10am, and we had to be there by 9:30am. We quickly showered, packed up, and caught our two ferries and a taxi back to the airport. We found the representative from our resort and got checked into the flight. We were shuttled to the terminal where we relaxed in the lovely exclusive club before it was time to board.

Seaplanes are awesome. Just to make it even more awesome, our pilot flew barefoot. It was a good sign of things to come! The pictures speak for themselves:

We landed at the resort, deplaned, and were welcomed with juice and a cold towel. Sidebar: Southeast Asia has this thing about giving hot and cold towels and it’s delightful. We thinking about starting this at work when we get home! They lead us through the island to our water villa. We had a regular one facing sunrise - Trey checked to see if there was any chance of moving to a sunset facing one, and for a small upcharge, we moved to a sunset facing jacuzzi water villa!

The island is gorgeous and about a half a mile tip to tip. Most of the villa are on north end and the bar and restaurants are on the south end. We are on the all inclusive plan so we eat in the big dining room. It’s so open and half the floors are sand! After a delicious dinner, we head back to the room and were asleep by 9!

We have arrived!
