October 15, 2024: Albuquerque

What a full day! It was chilly this morning: 50*, feels like 45*! After some work and schoolwork this morning, Laura and the kids headed into town for Explora! the children science center in Albuquerque. The kids had a blast exploring every inch of the place.

John made a two story bunk bed and discovered he may have gotten his mom’s hula hooping abilities, while Elizabeth played music every chance she got, even in an elevator!

After wrapping up at Xplora! it was back to the RV for a quick lunch and grabbing Dad to head to the ABQ Zoo.

This little zoo was a great find! They designed it so you felt more like you were in their habitat instead of them in yours (to a certain extent of course). The penguin exhibit was one of the best we have seen, so of course Elizabeth was thrilled! They had lots of big cats and a fun monkey area.

So happy about the penguins!!

We closed down the zoo. As we noticed the mountain in the background of Albuquerque, we decided to find the good sunset spot. The tram there is closed on Tuesdays, so we drove up to Sandía Ridge. It went from 82* to 50* at over 10,000 ft elevation. And boy was it windy!!! We stayed out long enough for a few photos and to watch the sunset.

As we de-thawed on the windy car ride back down, Elizabeth insisted on soup for dinner to warm up! We found a little hole in the wall sushi place, Sushi Xuan, with a huge menu. We got enough food, by accident, for another meal or two! After our tummies were full, it was back to the RV to get rest before driving again tomorrow.
